Product Guru Supplier Focus - Into the World of Mark Birch Hair

We spoke to, Kulbir Singh, Sales Director of Mark Birch Hair

Tell us more about your company.

Birch & Hayer was founded by Manjit Kaur in 2018 and her vision was to get the Mark Birch hair brand out to everyone, having suffered with hair loss she knew how difficult it was to find products which helped because what was out in the market either promised a lot and delivered little or caused unwanted side effects. And then she found Mark Birch - a world renowned trichologist from whom she had a product range that helped, the range has a loyal following from the Middle East, and locally it has become a ’secret’ amongst celebrities. The product range was originally developed for difficult scalp problems and hair loss which are also effective on itchy and irritated scalp and safe for sensitive skin.

Mark himself is a world renowned trichologist, working with high net worth individuals and celebrities for decades, helping them to thicken their hair and protect their scalps, both men and women. Unlike many ranges that promise to help men and women with thinning hair and damaged scalp, many of Mark's products are 100% natural and have a wealth of research and case studies to support the science.

Is there a specific product you've particularly proud of and why?

We want to promote a way of life that emphasises personal health, ethical and ecological choices by making products that are of superior quality, first rate ingredients and help people with scalp and hair loss issues, we are against animal testing and our products are Vegan, Palm oil free and biodegradable.

As Mark's reputation grew, he developed his own range of products intended for use at home, including shampoos, conditioners, lotions and food supplements, all made from natural ingredients, all vegan and clear of allergens.

What do you most enjoy about the business?

The most enjoyable part is to be able to help people especially when they are close to giving up in finding a solution and the two products that really stands out are the triple action scalp therapy shampoo with its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory and anti bacterial properties that has been extensively to help clients with a range of different moderate to severe scalp conditions.

And then the TR3 hair growth lotion which helps with many types of hair loss without any known side effects and both have been given the CE medical device accreditation.

How many people work for the business?

At Birch and Hayer we are a team of 3 and we work tirelessly in helping our customers and clinics to help deliver the brand message that our customers come first and there is nothing like the feeling when you have been able to help someone. In her spare time is a mother of two and loves traveling which is also part of what is needed in keeping up a good relationship with the clinics and retailers which is paramount and keeping them up to date on all training needs they may have.

Who do you sell products to?

We are pleased to say we are currently selling through Superdrug’s, Sephora and boohoo Debenhams market places and have Este medical group clinics and many pharmacies selling our ranges plus our online ecommerce site.

What are the ambitions for the company?

Our ambition is to grow the company presence here in the UK as it is in Scandinavia and the Middle East so more and more people can see they do have a safe option which is going to help them that also is vegan, cruelty free and bio degradable and formulated by a expert in his field.

What do you think of the free Product Guru platform? What encouraged you to join?

And that leads us to joining the Product Guru platform as we were advised this would be the best way we could get our range over to Holland and Barrett as we have great synergy with them and this was after visiting a store (personal shopping) and hearing a customer who was suffering with dermitius on the scalp and needed a product that could help and we have that product.
