When was your company formed? Where are you based? What do you produce?
Real Ting Teas was created and registered at the start of 2021; January to be precise during the height of the pandemic
It is based near Swansea in Wales and is situated in an area known for outstanding Natural beauty.
My produce is a bespoke range of Natural, hand created, caffeine free fresh Teas (Tisanes in the business) and beverages, which I create from my home kitchen.
I am a creative and energetic girl born out of Jamaican parentage and for years – in fact, since I was a young child – I have been taught how to mix and blend Tea ingredients.
My Caribbean family passed the skills, techniques, and recipes down through history and my parents were great in sharing these with my siblings and me, using the Teas to boost health and emotional stress.
In 2018, life changed dramatically for me and I was faced with a set of ‘life challenges'. I was diagnosed with complex neurological conditions, which meant I was no longer able to drive or stay in my job, which I loved!
After nearly 2 years of research, training, blending ingredients, developing the website, etc. Real Ting Teas was launched online as a business.
How many people work for the business?
I currently employ 1 person and only sell to the UK at the moment, through the website. I encourage my customers and visitors to subscribe to our Real Ting Tea Club, where they will benefit from hand created, bespoke Tea blends for only £20 per month, delivered to their door without the cost of P&P.
Who do you sell to?
I do have a small very loyal, customer base who return every month for their supply of Real Ting Teas.
Is there a specific product you're particularly proud of and why?
The product which stands out and is by far the favourite of customers is our Real Mint & Ginger blend Tea. This product was and still is THE BEST. It retains all its natural flavours and health benefits for months and months ( if stored correctly), it’s an all-rounder Tea blend, which can be sipped at ANY time throughout the day and it smells minty, fresh and clean!
I’m so proud of this particular Tea because the ingredients are the first ones I dabbled with as a child, living with my parents.
What do you most enjoy about running your business?
I really enjoy and love buying, creating and sampling new blends and ingredients, and also sharing them with my husband and family. I love how I manage the pace of the business to suit my health and wellbeing! And I absolutely LOVE how spicy, sweet and vibrant my home now smells from the ingredients being blended.
When you’re not working, what do you enjoy doing?
Life for me outside the business is enjoyed and loved everyday, as I am spending quality time with my husband, being able to see my grandchildren (who live abroad) makes me enjoy life outside of the business, and I just love the buzz of travelling to new places across the globe.
I’ve also started oil painting on canvas, and recently completed a chimpanzee wearing headphones (a Bansky copy). It must be all those days as a youth watching Boss Ross.
What do you think of the free Product Guru platform? What encouraged you to join?
I'm so chuffed about being registered with Product Guru, my son encouraged (well he FORCED) me to register and I’m so glad I did, as there is lots of information to help assist both buyers and sellers like myself. I get regular updates to my email inbox and details of virtual pitches, etc.
